Abe had been paying Five Lakes for about a year when he came to see me.
Abe is making $113,000, which seems like a lot, but his wife is home with four children. Children are expensive everywhere, but especially here.
He had just over $20,000 in credit card debt, so he signed up for the debt settlement program Five Lakes. He thought it was working until the sheriff brought a summons to his door. The summons was a warrant in debt.
Credit One had sold his account to the debt buyer, LVNV, and LVNV was suing him.
At that point, he needed to file for bankruptcy, and the legal fee for the bankruptcy was less than what he had paid so far to Five Lakes.
